Terms of Service
The agreement, in plain words.
These terms cover your use of the Pawdex app and this website. Creating an account means you accept them. They are written to be read, not to be skipped.

Who can use Pawdex
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission. One person, one account; keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has it.
Wildlife comes first
Pawdex exists to help you notice animals, not to bring you closer to them. You agree to observe from a safe distance and never to approach, corner, handle, bait, or feed a wild animal in order to photograph it, and never to enter land where you are not permitted. Do not use Pawdex to locate animals in order to harm, capture, or trade them.
Feeding guidance shown on a card is general interest information, not veterinary advice. It is not a substitute for a vet, a wildlife rehabilitator, or your local wildlife authority.
Identification is a best effort
Species and breed identification is produced by machine learning models running on your device. It is frequently right and sometimes wrong. Do not rely on it to decide whether an animal is dangerous, venomous, protected, or safe to be near. Where a figure on a card is an estimate rather than a cited measurement, the card says so; treat everything else as a starting point for your own reading.
What you contribute
You keep ownership of the photographs you take. By contributing an encounter to the shared dex you give us a non-exclusive licence to store it and to show it to other Pawdex users as part of the community dex, including the animal, its coarse area, the name you gave it, and any story you wrote. You can withdraw that by deleting the record, which deletes it from our servers too.
You confirm that you have the right to contribute what you upload, and that it contains nothing unlawful, abusive, or deliberately misleading. Do not upload photographs of identifiable people without their agreement.
Things you agree not to do
- Break the app, its models, or its API, or attempt to access accounts or records that are not yours.
- Scrape, bulk-download, or resell data from the shared dex.
- Submit deliberately false identifications or fabricated encounters.
- Use Pawdex for anything unlawful, or in a way that endangers an animal or a person.
Our part of the deal
Pawdex is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. It is in active development: features will change, and we may add, alter, or remove them. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Pawdex is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for any injury, damage, or penalty arising from how you behaved around an animal or on someone's land. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Ending it
You may stop using Pawdex and ask us to close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, particularly where an animal or a person is put at risk. Sections that by their nature should survive — licence to already-contributed records, disclaimers, and liability limits — continue to apply after an account closes.
Payments
Pawdex is currently free to use. If paid features are introduced, the price and terms will be shown before you are charged and any purchase will be handled by Apple, subject to their refund policy.
Apple
Apple is not a party to this agreement and has no obligation to provide support for Pawdex. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price, where one was paid; Apple has no other warranty obligation.
Privacy
How your information is handled is described in ourPrivacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Changes and contact
We will update the date above when these terms change, and say so in the app for anything material. Questions go toyuvraj@pawdex.fun.
